Kelly Sarri is an award-winning filmmaker based in Los Angeles, originally from Greece, whose storytelling blends bold innovation with profound emotional resonance. Known for her groundbreaking web series Gynarchy —the first fictional series on TikTok and Instagram—Kelly earned prestigious accolades as a Webby and Telly Winner in 2023. This project exemplifies her willingness to embrace risk and redefine the boundaries of storytelling, offering audiences dynamic narratives that center women and challenge societal norms.

Kelly’s work is deeply rooted in her upbringing in a multigenerational female household, which inspires her exploration of intergenerational connections and the complexities of relationships. Her stories often blend humor with social consciousness, tackling themes like climate change, cultural identity, and resilience through the powerful and magical female gaze. A strong advocate for inclusivity, Kelly ensures her sets are nurturing spaces where people from diverse walks of life thrive both in front of and behind the camera.

Her cli-fi short film Heat Me, funded by the Greek Film Center, exemplifies her commitment to exploring environmental themes while maintaining relatability and humor. The film reflects her ability to combine sharp visuals with thoughtful narratives, offering insight into family dynamics under the strain of climate change. Similarly, her critically acclaimed documentary Tax Evasion: A Greek National Sport—which earned her an interview with BBC Radio—demonstrates her ability to address larger societal issues with wit and sharp storytelling.

With a strong background in post-production, Kelly approaches her projects holistically, ensuring every frame is imbued with symbolism and emotional resonance. Her technical expertise complements her creative vision, making her a meticulous and prepared filmmaker who values the collaborative process.

Beyond her work as a director, Kelly holds two master’s degrees in film and is an experienced educator, sharing her knowledge while remaining a lifelong student of the craft. She creates socially conscious and environmentally responsible projects that reflect her values of inclusivity, empathy, and connection.

Kelly has also directed music videos and collaborated with artists like Kyla Imani and Georgia Water, with her work gaining recognition at festivals such as the Top Indie Film Awards, Impact Doc Awards, and London Independent Film Awards. With nearly a decade of industry experience, she continues to break new ground, driven by her motto: "Create fearlessly with love."
